Prof. Moreno: It’s good to have a LEZ but it’s even better to be a LEE

Know-how

Cities should not merely “have” low emission zones (LEZ) but should themselves “be” comprehensive low emission environments (LEE) – states Prof. Carlos Moreno, the author of the famous concept of the 15-minute city.

Oslo shows how to put cars in their place

Know-how

The case of Oslo clearly shows that to take care of air quality and the health of inhabitants, it is not enough to substitute EVs for combustion engine vehicles – the city can no longer be dominated by any type of car.

Bremen – a city that plays the BLUES for the people and with the people

Know-how

Among big German cities, Bremen boasts not only the lowest levels of NO2 in the air, but also e.g. the highest share of cycling in transport. Such are the effects of a consistent policy, of which the LEZ is only one part.

Petrol cars are holding on – or the Low Emission Zone in Copenhagen

Know-how

At first glance, the regulations of the Low Emission Zone in Copenhagen appear suspiciously lenient. How did it come to that? The inhabitants of Copenhagen have been offered numerous alternatives to cars and gladly use them.

Eindhoven – ambitious and precise, but not radical

Know-how

The first environmental zone with restrictions for vehicles in Eindhoven was introduced in 2007, but to this day passenger vehicles… are not subject to any entry regulations. Inhabitants were offered other means of transport.

About the project

The aim of the project entitled “Laboratory of Low Emission Zones” is to provide Polish local governments with practical and up-to-date knowledge on the implementation and operation of Low Emission Zones (LEZ) and to familiarize them with proven practices in this respect, based on examples from various European cities. Decision makers from local governments will also have an opportunity to acquire knowledge on the legislative conditions of establishing a LEZ, resulting from Article 39 of the Electromobility and Alternative Fuels Act.
